What do these words mean to you?
I think I only found out what self love is when I realized I wasn’t doing it right! For me these words now mean feeling total love within myself, a love connection. Making this a priority before being able to share this love with others in a pure and healthy way. Putting this connection before a connection with anyone else romantically or otherwise. This can sound really selfish I guess but it’s not egocentrically driven, let me explain.
When I say putting my connection with myself before my connection with anyone else, most of the time when we are loving someone else we are actually mistaking it for personal attachment and we are putting our happiness in their hands and become dependent on how they love us back and if their love for us will last.
When someone holds you as their object of affection, it feels really good but now you are dependent on them and their focus over you which you have no control, this creates a bondage.
The love we experience here has always been conditional, we were loved by our parents when we were good but when we were bad we felt that disappointment and withdrawal of affection, so we change ourselves so that we can try to always be lovable but this is not who we really are, because we think we have to be a certain way to be worthy of love
We are all actually love and we are all loved always from a part of ourselves that is our higher self which connects to universal love, this places no conditions on us, it doesn’t matter what we do or say we are still loved always, there nothing you could do to not be loved from this place.
So self love to me is remembering this and reconnecting to it, it’s about coming into alignment with who you always were. It’s a love beyond someone who is physically focused shining their love on you, it’s actually the greatest love there is.
When you can reconnect to this THEN the best part is you get to share it and reflect it to the world which is the least selfish thing ever.
I cannot say I am there yet but I am on the journey and working on remembering I am love and loved as you all are. 💕
